As I created my website I was looking for a good domain name that is short and somehow able to reflect the ideas behind my art production and my artistic attitude. So I created the term ioverse. The made-up word consist from the short term I/O and the suffix -verse. In computing, input/output or I/O is the communication between an information processing system (such as a computer) and the outside world, possibly a human or another information processing system. The suffix -verse means "to turn" (reverse, transverse, inverse, diverse) In the same time verse is a word describing a single metrical line in a poetic composition as well; it means one line of poetry.
Since I have started working with computers artistically my artworks are having one peculiarity in common. I don't present a formal 100% predefined creation, but I let the artwork create itself either from the participation of the observer and/or from existent flows of information or signals that I simply hijack. This way the artwork actually is not only the surface that the observer is able to perceive, but the engine behind, that generates the output from the incoming signals. This way the source code that describes such a machine, contains the concept of the artwork in itself. Ioverse stands for this idiosyncrasy in my artistic work.
